FRMC Meeting Minutes
Meeting Date and Location
The Friday, April 9th meeting was called to order by President Larry Standiford at approximately 7:20 pm at Café Del Sol (608 Garrison Street, Lakewood, CO). The restaurant is located at our former meeting spot, the Garrison St. Grill. The interior has been updated and the menu changed from sports bar fare to a wider selection featuring a variety of Mexican selections, sandwiches, steaks, and breakfast items. Also, the larger meeting room, where FRMC’s Holiday Parties were formerly held, was made available for our first 2021 meeting’s strong turnout. Given the many months since last meeting, Larry asked the attendees to introduce themselves, their car history, and their time and role in the Club.

Old Business
The Club has 26 paid family memberships for 2021 and 1 approved non-paying membership through the meeting date.
We have a large supply of Club jacket patches for sale at $5.00 and magnetic name tags can be ordered at $12.00/tag. We also now have FRMC window and windshield car stickers available for free. Gary Spencer has an inventory of FRMC ball caps for members to purchase at $18 each. Each hat carries the Club logo on the front with unique design work on the brims and side depending on the color. Colors are black, red, and pink and are available by contacting Gary at Jilspen04@aol.com. Tom Ferguson thinks he has a possible new vendor to provide Club polo shirts with the Club logo and he will initiate discussions with them before the next meeting. Our old vendor permanently closed their shop before the pandemic.
The 2021 Rocky Mountain Mustang RoundUp has moved from Steamboat Springs to Colorado Springs. Colorado Springs rolled out the red carpet to our event organizers in contrast to Steamboat, and this year’s event looks like it will be one of the best RoundUps ever with 8 days of events over June 14th through June 21st. FRMC’s own Wendell Salas is the 2021 Roundup Chairperson with able assistance from Club VP Gary Spencer. New driving events added to the RMMR calendar include separate days at Pikes Peak International Raceway, a Cripple Creek Cruise, and the Pikes Peak Hill Climb course (Monday – Thursday). There will also be the usual Autocross Event (Friday), Banquet Night (Friday), Show & Shine Day (Saturday), and Awards brunch (Sunday). The event was advertised in Mustang Times since attendance is no longer constrained by Steamboat Springs facility restrictions, and the RMMR website (rockymountainmustangroundup.org) has specific details on the driving/racing/social events and hotel accommodations. Wendall noted that over 300 cars are already registered with many more expected in the next two months. Tom Ferguson will secure the Club’s Certificate of Insurance for the event from the MCA’s office.
Tom Kay reported on the Colorado Collector Car Council’s status and noted that until he completes his move to California he will continue to serve as Treasurer for that organization. Also, while there will be no Havana Cruise in 2021, the Rocky Mountain Jeffco Airport Show is on for August 7th.

New Business
Tom Ferguson reported on final 2020 Pony Car sales figures with Mustang leading the class with 61,090 units sold, a 16% decline from 2019. The Dodge Challenger came in second at 52,955, 13% down, and the Chevrolet Camaro dropped to just 29,775 cars for a whopping 38% decline. There continue to be rumors of the Camaro’s discontinuation, but the fact that it is Chevy’s NASCAR racer could complicate that decision.
Christy Hopkins reminded the members of the upcoming Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing (RMVR) Driver’s School scheduled at Pikes Peak International Raceway on May 1-2. Christy and fellow FRMC members John McNurney and Daren Schauls act as instructors and former participating members such as Art Apple strongly endorse this two day event. Info is available at driving-instructor@rmvr.com.
John Revesz mentioned the Vehicle Vault Cars & Coffee event has started up on 2nd Saturday of each month in Parker (vehiclevault.com) and Tom Ferguson has forwarded information on several upcoming events over the last two months to Club members. These include the aforementioned RMVR Driver’s School, the Mustangs West Virtual All Ford Car Show (mustangswest.com) running through August 28th, and the just communicated Mayhem Racing Charities Colorwerks Rally to the Royal Gorge Bridge, Ludlow Monument and Car Topia on April 25th (cruisinforcauses.com).
Since FRMC is all about getting together with our members and cars for activities, we need suggestions to start scheduling events for the upcoming driving season. Suggestions received so far include:
Tour of the Vehicle Vault Facility in Parker
Return to Cars Remember When Classic Cars in Littleton
Return to the Shelby Collection in Boulder
Royal Gorge Bridge Drive
Rambler Ranch Tour in Elizabeth
Cussler Museum Classic Car Tour in Arvada
Gateway Classic Cars Caffeine and Chrome Tour in Englewood (last Saturday of the month)
Upcoming discussions at Club Meetings will determine the times and dates for activities agreed upon. Everyone felt Café Del Sol worked well, so FRMC’s next scheduled meeting is Friday, May 14th at 7:00pm at the restaurant.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:35pm.

Treasurer's Report
The Club had $1,402.93 in the checking account with Vectra Bank as of the meeting date. All state registration fees, insurance premiums, website costs, and club affiliation dues for FRMC have been paid for the year.
MCA Report
President Larry noted that the MCA National Show schedule for 2021 has been established and includes at least two National Meetings that could be drivable events for FRMC members. On July 23-25 the Mustang Club of Greater Kansas City will hold an MCA National in that Overland Park and on September 3-5 the Oklahoma Mustang Club will host an MCA National in Mustang, Oklahoma. Tom Kay stated that he just returned from the MCA’s 45th Anniversary Celebration at Road Atlanta on April 1-4 and attendance was quite good given the pandemic with over 400 Mustangs. MCA Nationals and local Mustang and car events of interest will be posted on the FRMC Website Event Calendar to encourage participation.
