Old Business

The Club has 32 paid family memberships for 2021 and 1 approved non-paying membership through the meeting date.
Gary Spencer has a new inventory of FRMC ball caps for members to purchase.  Each hat carries the Club logo on the front with unique design work on the brims and side depending on the color.  Colors are black, red, white, and pink and are available by contacting Gary at Jilspen04@aol.com.
Tom Ferguson has delivered the orders for the new Club Logo Polo shirts to everyone except George Begnaud and Michael Kish.  Come to the next meeting to get your shirts, guys!
Wendell Salas reported on the 2021 Rocky Mountain Mustang RoundUp in Colorado Springs.  There were some issues with the host hotel, but if it does not change ownership it will likely serve as the host location in 2022 as it has adequate parking space for cars and trailers.  Even so, the RoundUp committee is pursuing additional hotel accommodations with the goal of securing covered parking.  The Autocross and track activities were a big success as the PPIR facilities were very good, but the committee may move the administration of track events to PPIR next year to relieve the burden from RoundUp volunteers.   The Pikes Peak and Mountain Drives got strong reviews from the participants and came off with only minor hitches.  Other than the food trucks running out of inventory too early, the Show and Shine on Saturday was probably highpoint of the Roundup with a great turnout.  Any suggestions for next year’s event should be passed on to Wendell.
Tom Ferguson reported on the Club Drive to Golden Gate Canyon State Park on July 17th which was enjoyed by 20 members with 12 Mustangs.  The participants enjoyed a picnic in the park and great scenery on both legs of the drive.
Mike Nowlin of MCCOC reported on the July 24th Wings & Wheels Showcase at Centennial Airport which featured over 20 Mustang cars and two P-51 fighters.  FRMC contributed 3 Mustangs to the show which MCCOC hopes to make an annual event.
Michael Bateman made it to the July 23-25th MCA Follow the Yellow Brick Road National show in Overland Park, Kansas.  He reported that it was well attended with 440 cars, but very hot.  Michael’s 2006 Shelby GT350 took home a trophy and he is next planning on attending the September 3-5 Great Mustang Roundup MCA National in Mustang, Oklahoma and is looking for other FRMC members to join him.
Other Club members reported on various local car shows they had attended since our last FRMC meeting including Horsefeathers, the Sill-Terhar Motorfest, the Car Show/Swap Meet at the Rocky Mountain Metro Airport sponsored by the Collector Car Council of Colorado, and the Fireman Show where Chuck Warren passed out 23 Club cards to potential members.

New Business

There are numerous shows scheduled for August 21 and 28, with many of them listed on the FRMC Website event calendar and below, so the Club will not be holding an August event.
Kevin St. James, our Colorado Springs based member, recently expressed an interest in organizing a Club Drive to the Pikes Peak summit.  After Tom Ferguson polled the members,  it appears we were too late to gather sufficient interest for this year, but Kevin is open to trying to schedule this activity for earlier in the summer of 2022.
Member John McNurney is hosting his annual Cars and Guitars Block Party on September 11th and all FRMC members are invited (see the Tom Ferguson’s August 2nd email).  There will be lots of great cars on display including many from John’s awesome collection.   The party is at 556 S. Gardenia Street in Lakewood on Green Mountain and runs from 4pm to 10pm.  There will be a live band (The Hip Replacements), free beer and pop, a hot dog bar, and face painting.  RSVP to John at the contact info listed in upcoming events below.
Dan Ryhal and Cathy Wagner have again offered their mountain residence (15737 Pine Valley Road, Pine Colorado 80470) for the site of our annual FRMC Chili-Feed on Saturday, September 25th at 11am.  This will serve as our September Club Meeting & Event so plan on driving your Mustang up for some great food and scenery.  Tom Ferguson will be polling the members prior to the event to get a handle on who is bringing chili, or chips, drinks, desserts, etc. so we can let Dan know what to expect.  Also, we may try to arrange a caravan drive up leaving from Jason’s Deli in Lakewood for interested members.
Chuck Warren floated the idea of forming a group of drivers to make the trek down to the Hot Air Balloon Festival in Albuquerque October 2nd and Mike Nowlin mentioned the possibility of MCCOC and FRMC forming a driving caravan down to the MCA National Spirit of the West Show in Tucson October 7th – 10th.  Hopefully, we will hear more on these ideas soon.
Lastly, the Landmark Lincoln Car Show for St. Jude scheduled for September 18th has been cancelled due to Covid concerns.  Let’s hope this doesn’t start a trend.  The meeting was adjourned at 8:15pm.
