Old Business
The Club has 19 paid family memberships for 2020 and 1 approved non-paying membership with dues being accepted by the Treasurer as noted above. An updated membership roster was emailed out to the members before the February Club meeting. A reminder: photos of your favorite Mustang can be included with your roster listing on the Club website if you email the photo to Tom Ferguson or Frank Herbst.
We have a large supply of club jacket patches for sale at $5.00 and magnetic name tags can be ordered at $12.00/tag. We also now have FRMC window and windshield car stickers available for free.
Gary Spencer ordered FRMC ball caps for members to purchase at $18 each. Each hat carries the Club logo on the front with unique design work on the brims and side depending on the color. Colors are black, red, and pink and are available by contacting Gary at Jilspen04@aol.com.
Wendell Salas noted that registrations for the 2020 Rocky Mountain Mustang Roundup began in the first week of January and the Autocross event is already at capacity. The event will be held over Father’s Day weekend in Steamboat Springs which is again tightening access to street parking. Event organizers believe there may only be room for 300 cars on Yampa Street as opposed to the 500 vehicles typically accommodated in past years. Questions about the Roundup should be directed to Wendell.
The Club activity for January was a visit to the Colorado Model Railroad Museum in Greeley and it was well attended by both FRMC and MCCoC (Mustang Car Club of Colorado) members. Numerous videos of the spectacular museum layout are available on YouTube if you missed the event or care to relive your visit.

New Business
The meeting location at Jose O’shea’s will continue to be used for the remaining Winter meetings (just March) on the second Saturday of the month at 11:00 am, however, it is likely Jose’s will be too busy on Friday nights to serve as the meeting location for April thru October. Any ideas for a Spring/Summer location would be greatly appreciated.
Wendell Salas noted that the Rocky Mountain Mustang Roundup will almost certainly be relocating from Steamboat Springs after this year with Snowmass (Aspen) and Glenwood Springs the most likely candidates. Each has its advantages with Snowmass having access to a road course (Woody Creek) for autocross and track events. In order to accomplish all the prep work for the move in 2021, it will be necessary to form a transition committee from the participating clubs very soon, so volunteers are needed. Otherwise, the Roundup may have to skip having a 2021 event and reconvene in 2022.
Larry Standiford was contacted by Mike Nowlin, President of our sister MCA club, the Mustang Car Club of Colorado, about jointly holding a Saturday car show May 16th at the Certifit Auto Body Parts facility at 10450 E. 51st Avenue (northeast of the Stapleton neighborhood) and FRMC membership interest was high with Gary Spencer volunteering to help coordinate our participation with MCCoC in the coming weeks.
Information on the annual Rio Grande Mustang Club Mustang Enchantment weekend was released in a previous email to FRMC members and our participation level should be high again based on the discussions at the February meeting about caravanning to Albuquerque. See the upcoming events below for the dates. Hotel location and activity information along with registration forms for the event are posted in the FRMC Club website Bullitt-n Board section.
John McNurney called everyone’s attention to an upcoming high speed driving education event hosted by the Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing (RMVR) organization April 24-25 at Pikes Peak International Raceway. The 2 day event features 2 courses of one-on-one instruction in competition driving to earn a racing license or precision driving for the very reasonable cost of $300. Both John and Art Apple have participated in this training before and spoke very highly of it. Info is available at www.rmvr.com.
Dusty Dodge described an organization he works with called Hands of the Carpenter that provides donated vehicles and instruction and maintenance services such as oil and filter changes, tune ups, and brake and suspension repairs to single moms and women in need. The organization has a three bay shop on South Golden Road and currently has four “pit crew” teams of volunteers including the Denver Mustang Club. They are seeking volunteers to form additional crews that would work a day a month wrenching on the vehicles. Dusty said it is a great time, and more info is available at www.handsofthecarpenter.org or you can contact Dusty at 303-909-7565 to discuss forming a team.
Due to the late date for the February Club Meeting, there will no Club activity this month, however, members have discussed future 2020 Club activities including possible visits to the Shelby Collection, Rambler Ranch, Celestial Seasonings and another cookout at the Ryhal/Wagner residence in Pine.
The following list represents upcoming club or other events of interest. Times and dates will be determined closer to the events based on club input and site availability.
