Old Business
The Club had 22 paid family memberships so far for 2022.
Last month Larry Standiford noted that O’Meara Ford (400 W 104th Ave in Northglenn), who used to host FRMC Meetings, has expressed an interest in doing so again in 2022. This could be a spot for future spring/summer meetings which we will convene on Friday’s at 7pm beginning in April. As noted in New Business below, another option for spring/summer Friday meetings has also surfaced. In the meantime, Larry is to check with O’Meara about adequate and safe parking for our Mustangs on Friday nights.
For latest news on the June Rocky Mountain Mustang Roundup, Wendell Salas confirmed that the host Hotel Elegante’ has been sold and renamed as the ALTA Hotel. Long term plans for the ALTA are to convert it into affordable housing, however, the hotel still will host the 2022 RMMR Friday Social and Saturday Banquet and provide meeting space, rooms and outdoor parking to attendees. Food services will be limited at the hotel to the lobby Sweet Tooth Café, but plans are being made for the Saturday Banquet to be catered by an outside vendor and for breakfast availability for hotel guests. Additional hotel accommodations are available nearby at the Double Tree and Antlers Hotel. All event activities as described on the event website are unchanged. Tom Ferguson suggested that Wendell try to get the RMMR included in the events listed in the back of MCA’s monthly Mustang Times magazine.

New Business
Tom Ferguson reminded the members that he sent out a December 18th email on the Rio Grande Mustang Club MCA regional show they are planning for Memorial Day weekend (May 28 & 29) in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Many FRMC members have participated in this event in the past and it is highly recommended. The Club could schedule a caravan down south for this and try to bring other clubs such as the Mustang Car Club of Colorado into the drive. Volunteers to organize this are needed.
The Early Mustang Club passed on news of a 3 museum package deal where for $33 per person, attendees can gain admission to the local Forney, Rodz and Bodz, and Vehicle Vault museums for one price. This seems like a great way to schedule three Club activities in the remaining winter months and Tom Ferguson volunteered to research and suggest dates over March and April for this. Stay tuned for an email on the first activity at the Vehicle Vault on March 5th.
Art Apple noted that Tom Daniel, the owner of Landmark Lincoln in Littleton, wanted to know if FRMC could take a strong role in organizing the September car show he puts on for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. After discussing this, the members decided that there is not enough time left to properly organize for a 2022 show, but we would be open to participating in the 2023 show. Art informed Tom of our decision after the meeting and he understood, but still offered his dealership facility as a meeting spot for our April Meeting which is scheduled for 7pm on Friday, April 8th. More details on the April Meeting will be developed at FRMC’s Saturday, March 12th Meeting at Café Del Sol at 12pm. The later start time is to accommodate a group using Café Del Sol’s meeting room earlier that morning.
Michael Bateman said the Early Mustang Club will be conducting an Easter Weekend Mountain Drive on April 16th and is opening it to other clubs. Contact Michael for details. Michael is also working on organizing a Mustang & Ford Car Show in Steamboat Springs the weekend of August 20-21st with cooperation from the city. He is hoping to have between 200 to 250 cars at the show. More info on this later.
Chuck Warren mentioned that he will be hosting another Independence Day Party on his decks overlooking Denver from Green Mountain this summer. The actual day isn’t set yet, but will likely be July 2nd or 3rd.
We have to close with sad news. Long-time member Susan Redmond passed away on Sunday, February 13th after an extended battle with cancer. We haven’t seen Jack and Susan since before Covid, but were aware of her situation since last spring. Cards can be sent to Jack at 13018 E. Colorado Avenue, Aurora, CO 80012 and information on funeral services should be available shortly on the website of Horan & McConaty Funeral Home (horancares.com).
