FRMC Meeting Minutes

Meeting Date and Location

The Sunday July 4th meeting was called to order by President Larry Standiford, who is up and active after his recent surgery.  The meeting was short as everyone was happily participating in the Independence Day/Deck Christening Party hosted by Chuck Warren at his home on Green Mountain.  Special thanks to Chuck for generously providing loads of food and drink for the party and giving us a truly spectacular spot to watch the fireworks displays over the Denver metro area.  Thanks also to the other Club members who brought side dishes of salads and desserts.

Old Business

The Club has 32 paid family memberships for 2021 and 1 approved non-paying membership through the meeting date.
Gary Spencer has a new inventory of FRMC ball caps for members to purchase.  Each hat carries the Club logo on the front with unique design work on the brims and side depending on the color.  Colors are black, red, white, and pink and are available by contacting Gary at Jilspen04@aol.com.
Tom Ferguson has delivered the orders for the new Club Logo Polo shirts to everyone except the Watson’s, Perea’s and George Begnaud.  Tom will have the shirts available at the July driving event on the 17th.  Three new orders for members were placed at the July 4th meeting and should be available around month end.
The 2021 Rocky Mountain Mustang RoundUp has concluded and Gary Spencer gave a brief report on it.  Wendall Salas should have more to say at a future Club event.

New Business

A discussion about when to hold the July Club Driving Event to Golden Gate Canyon State Park was held and the consensus date was established as Saturday, July 17th.  Tom Ferguson will send out a separate announcement on the meeting and departure times and route later this week, but we will meet at our usual Club Driving Event gathering point, Jason’s Deli, 204 Union Blvd in Lakewood just off 6th Avenue.  This will give us great access to 6th Avenue into Golden and allow Club participants to get their lunch supplies for when we stop in the park.  If you haven’t participated in a Club meeting or event this year, this should be a fun time to start.
We also discussed other Club events for the next two months.  Kevin St. James has expressed an interest in organizing a Club Drive to the Pikes Peak summit.  Tom Ferguson has notified Kevin that August 14th and 28th look to be the least busy Saturdays in what is a crowded August car calendar.  We’ll see what develops on this as Kevin does his research.  Also, Dan Ryhal and Cathy Wagner have offered their Pine, Colorado residence again for the site of the annual FRMC Chili-Feed/Meeting on either September 25th or 26th.  This would be the third year in a row for them hosting the Chili-Feed at their beautiful mountain home and it has been a great occasion each time.  If you have a definite preference on the date, let Tom Ferguson know.

In attendance at Chuck’s party were several members from the Rocky Mountain Thunderbird Club, including President Don Reinke II and V.P. Jim Merritt, and we discussed doing some future joint activities with this very active club including the Chili-Feed and some driving or tour events.  To keep the lines of communication open, Jim Merritt will be included in the distribution of FRMC meeting minutes going forward and Tom Ferguson will receive similar correspondence from the Thunderbird Club.
