Old Business

The Club has 29 paid family memberships so far for 2022.  Following the November Club Meeting at Landmark Lincoln, the Club visited the Forney Museum of Transportation on Saturday, November 12th.  The Museum has a cool collection of vintage motor cars from the US and Europe as well as one of the best historical motorcycle and bicycle collections in the country.  But, perhaps the most impressive feature of Forney is the large display of railroad locomotives, passenger and dining cars from the good old days.  This was the final leg of the Tri-Power Tour of local car museums that the Club started last March.  If you didn’t get to Forney last Saturday, your Tri-Power ticket is still good until the end of the year and don’t forget there is a coupon for $20 off of any souvenirs you purchase from the museum gift shops.
Wendell Salas reported that the Rocky Mountain Mustang Roundup will be held over the Father’s Day week in June with the track day and autocross events conducted for 2 days at Pikes Peak International Raceway south of Colorado Springs followed by the Show and Shine Car Show and Event Social being put on in Cripple Creek.  There will be a host hotel for Cripple Creek, but no official hotel for Colorado Springs.  More details will be officially released in the coming weeks including a half page ad in MCA’s Mustang Times magazine and a website update.  Since the Denver Mustang Club has decided to no longer sponsor the Roundup, it is imperative that the remaining club sponsors, including FRMC, provide volunteers for the events associated with the Roundup to ensure its continued success.  Wendell and Gary Spencer will be looking for more FRMC support in 2023 than just the three or four of us that have lent a hand in the last few years.
The second Colorado Mustang Stampede put on by members Michael and Melinda Bateman in Steamboat Springs is also scheduled around the Father’s Day weekend next year and details for that will also be appearing in Mustang Times and the event website soon.   Mike and Melinda aren’t in need of volunteers, but they will welcome Mustang enthusiasts from all over to participate in their two day event.
Making June a really busy month for local Mustangers will be the addition of the MCA National put on by the Rio Grande Mustang Club of New Mexico the week before Father’s Day in June (taking the place of their usual Memorial Day Show) in Albuquerque and the Colorado Concours d’Elegance at Araphoe Community College Sunday, June 4th.

New Business

FRMC’s Holiday Party is scheduled for Saturday, December 10th at 10am at The Club at Rolling Hills in Golden.  The Party will be a buffet brunch with a variety of dishes for $30 per person and will include a white elephant gift exchange and an opportunity to make a charitable donation to a local organization, Gold Star Learning Options, which provides services to over 200 families, including some in FRMC, that have members with special needs.  Please have your checks made out to FRMC for the Holiday Party to Tom Ferguson by the week of November 21.  Tom will try to send out additional info on Gold Star Learning Options before the Holiday party.
There will be no December Club Meeting other than the Holiday Party, but FRMC will meet at Landmark Lincoln on Friday, January 13th at 7pm for our first meeting of 2023.  Later in January on Saturday the 21st, the Club will visit the Memory Lane Event Center in Highlands Ranch  south of C-470 on Santa Fe.  Memory Lane Event Center is a 10,000 square foot mancave loaded with 50’s memorabilia and classic cars. The second level features a vintage pinball and arcade room, a Harley lounge with a billiard table, shuffleboard and lots of motorcycle memorabilia and an HO scale train town exhibit. The ground level has a complete 50’s diner with Juke Box music and a full ice cream counter. You can also walk through the 1960’s gas station and Chevy karaoke lounge.  A flyer for the Memory Lane event is attached to this email.  The financial seminar mentioned will be a short, low key educational/tips presentation during the BBQ lunch with no specific products being sold.

Treasurer's Report

Treasurer, Tom Ferguson, reported the Club had $1,311.70 in the checking account with Vectra Bank as of the meeting date.  The $30.00 FRMC dues for 2023 can be sent to Tom Ferguson at 525 Fox Hunt Circle, Highlands Ranch 80126.  Please make the dues checks out to FRMC rather than Tom.

MCA Report

President Larry reported on the Regional Directors Meeting held last month in Ohio with some 60 people participating.  MCA Board of Director voting for 2023 has been completed, but the voting participation was disappointingly low.  The MCA is considering ways to increase the future voting rate.  Jeff Mays will be the 2023 Club President, a position he has successfully held before.  MCA has completed its purchase of the Motosho event registration and management service that has been used over the last few years for enrolling in MCA Nationals and driving events.  Now that Motosho is owned by the MCA, other non-Mustang/Ford enthusiast car clubs will likely be unable to use it for their events.  It has something to do with MCA being a tax exempt organization and not being able to charge for the use of Motosho.  Rounding out the Directors Meeting was a participant visit to original Mustang designer, Gale Haldeman’s Mustang Museum in Ohio and tours of the U.S. Air Force Museum in Dayton.
