FRMC Meeting Minutes

Meeting Date and Location

The Saturday, October 15th meeting was called to order by Vice-President Gary Spencer at 11:15am at the Pine, Colorado home of Club friends Dan Ryhal and Kathy Wagner, who once again generously hosted the Club’s annual Chili Feed and our member meeting for the month.  President Larry Standiford and Karen were in Ohio attending the MCA Regional Directors’ Summit and we should hear from them about their trip at the November Club Meeting.  During the Chili Feed, Dan and Kathy’s young friends, John and Lucie Melvin from Carbondale shared some of the tequila they have been making and selling through select retailers with the Club.

Old Business

The Club has 29 paid family memberships so far for 2022.
Wendell Salas reported that the Rocky Mountain Mustang Roundup attendee survey has been completed with some 300 replies received.  The results are still being reviewed, but there appeared to be support for both Colorado Springs and Cripple Creek serving as host locations for the 2023 event.  Each has advantages and disadvantages and the organizers will need to decide on one or the other or both soon.  It does appear that Cripple Creek will certainly be the host location for 2024.

Art Apple noted that the Annual Landmark Lincoln Car Show in support of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital was a disappointment as the local St. Jude personnel failed to publicize the event properly so very few people capable of bidding on the mock vehicle auction attended.  The future of the event is in flux now as Tom Daniels, Landmark’s owner, was not happy.

The Mustang Car Club of Colorado held their annual Stangtoberfest event on October 25th in Fort Collins and several FRMC members attended and reported that it was another great event with 123 cars showing.  VP Gary Spencer’s Boss 302 won a Gold award at the event.

The Monday following the Chili Feed (October 17th), FRMC held a cruise event through Deer Creek Canyon, up to Highgrade Road and Pleasant Park Road into Conifer for a lunch at JJ Madwell’s Italian Restaurant.  After eating, the participants headed back to Denver either on Hwy 285 or through Evergreen via Hwy 73 and Bear Creek Canyon.  Six cars participated from members Paul Revesz, Tom Ferguson, Keith Johnson, Terry Frank, Larry Snodgrass and SAAC Colorado guests, Mary Sue Powell and Bill Miller.  Big thanks to Paul Revesz for leading the cruise on a beautiful fall day with spectacular tree colors.  There are pictures from the cruise on FRMC’s Facebook page.

New Business

FRMC’s Holiday Party is scheduled for Saturday, December 10th at 10am at The Club at Rolling Hills in Golden.  Like last December’s event, the Party will be a buffet brunch with a variety of dishes, a white elephant gift exchange and an opportunity to make charitable donations to a to be named organization.  Tom Ferguson and Art Apple will be meeting with the Event Director of The Club at Rolling Hills soon to determine the member cost for the party, and Tom will subsequently mail out announcements for prepaying the party costs and the 2023 Club Dues.

Michael Kish announced that 2023 National Mustang Day shirts are available from the National Mustang Owners Museum (www.mustangownersmuseum.com).

The next FRMC Monthly Club Meeting will be held at 7pm on Friday, November 11th at Landmark Lincoln.  We’ll follow the meeting with a Saturday, November 12th visit to the Forney Museum of Transportation.  This will be the final leg of the Tri-Power Tour of local car museums that the Club started last March.  If you don’t have the Tri-Power Passport that members purchased last March, you can still attend the Forney Museum as a one-off with the Club on November 12th.  Details are shown below.

The following list represents upcoming club or other events of interest.
