Old Business
The Club has 32 paid family memberships so far for 2024. Tom has been approached by 3 more prospective members, but the bad weather has kept them from attending meetings. Our newest members are Mike and Sandy Adragna, who have a 2016 Shelby GT350 and Danny and Shirley Gaddy, who have a 1966 Shelby GT350. Both Danny and Mike attended the Vehicle Vault Tour on March 2nd and Mike picked up his name tag and polo shirt. The tour was well attended with 19 members and several continued the day for lunch at the Hickory House in Parker. Tom is still holding polos for members Lehnerz, Lackman and Snodgrass and will attempt to deliver them at the April 11th Club Meeting.
Occurring in early April is the MCA’s 60th Anniversary Celebration of the Mustang at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama and a caravan is organizing to drive there from Denver starting April 1st (details below in Events of Interest). Also, on Sunday the 14th, the Early Mustang Club of Colorado will be conducting their Annual National Mustang Day Cruise. We’ll publish more details as they develop. SAAC Colorado has expressed an interest in both our clubs joining to celebrate Mustang Day either through this cruise or something else. Stay tuned for more developments.
Mike Thomas is developing plans for 2024 Mustang Enthusiast outings including an early Spring Guanella Pass/Georgetown cruise with a breakfast stop at the Shaggy Sheep Restaurant off Hwy 285 and a Memorial Day weekend Yellowstone Mustang Rally Run to Cody, Wyoming including overnight stays in the historic Irma Hotel. Past rallies are featured in the Yellowstone Mustang Rally Facebook page and the website and dates for the 2024 event are now listed in the Events of Interest section in these minutes. Mike is also working on a “once in a lifetime” Route 66 “The Mother Road” excursion that could be done in sections or the whole route from Chicago to Santa Monica around the second week in September. Mike will be reporting periodically on these plans as they develop (see below under new business).
Wendell Salas provided an update on the upcoming Rocky Mountain Mustang Roundup to be held on Thursday to Saturday June 13th to the 15th. The Mountain Tour will be a drive up Pikes Peak from 10 to noon on Thursday, June 13th with the Autocross held on Friday at Pikes Peak International Raceway. There will be no open track day at PPIR this year, but the popular Show ‘n Shine and other concluding activities will finish off in Cripple Creek with the host hotel, the brand new Chamonix Casino Hotel. Also, the 2024 Bullitt Nationals will be held at the Roundup. The website for registration and event details is included in the Events of Interest section at the end of these minutes.
With the driving season getting closer every month, your officers are looking for ideas for driving/show events to keep our Mustangs busy. Some suggestions discussed so far include:

With the driving season getting closer every month, your officers are looking for ideas for driving/show events to keep our Mustangs busy. Some suggestions discussed so far include:
- A road trip to Colorado Springs to view the National Museum of World War II Aviation
- Visit the Colorado Model Railroad Museum in Greeley
- Tour the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden
- Visit the Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum in Denver
- Tour Cars Remember When in Englewood with their always changing inventory
- April Event suggestions include touring the Shelby American Collection in Boulder, Celestial Seasonings, and/or Fat Tire Brewing. Email to follow confirming event.
- Wendell Salas volunteered to look into arranging a track day at High Plains Raceway for members this summer. We had an extended discussion during the meeting about what this would entail and the enthusiasm level was high.

Congratulations to John McNurney for writing and submitting his aforementioned article on his 1965/66 carryover Shelby GT350 for publication in the MCA’s Mustang Times magazine. It has been accepted and John brought a copy of the article for all to read and shared the story of his 2 1/2 year restoration project. Thank you, John, for submitting your story and we look forward to seeing the publication and pictures in a future issue.

MCA Report
President Larry reiterated his hope that FRMC could earn another coveted MCA President’s Award in 2024 and cited some progress on that front with two members already registered for the MCA National in Des Moines in August and John McNurney having submitted an article on his 1965/66 carryover Shelby GT350 to the MCA’s Mustang Times magazine. Also, although it doesn’t count toward the President’s Award, several FRMC members have already registered to attend the Rio Grande Mustang Club’s MCA Regional Show in Albuquerque May 18-19.
