Old Business

The Club has 44 paid family memberships so far for 2024 with the addition of Bill and Joan Anderson, his son Bill Junior and his wife Lacee, plus John and Nancy Rullo.  The Anderson’s share a 2004 Mach 1 and the Rullos’s enjoy a 2018 Shelby GT350.  There will be more details on these new members when Tom Ferguson sends out the updated FRMC Member Roster.
August and early September featured a large slate of shows and events and FRMC members were active participants in several including the Tri-Lakes Cruiser Show in Monument, the State Farm Insurance Show at the Main Event in Highlands Ranch, the Shelby American Collection Car Show and Party in Boulder, the Sturgis Mustang Rally in South Dakota where Ken and Chrissy Weathers and their family members won numerous awards including Silver and Bronze Badges with their two Mustangs, and the Early Ford V-8 Club All Ford Day at Sheridan High School.
FRMC Club Polo Shirts – With the exception of one shirt, all the orders have been delivered.  A total of 10 shirts were ordered this round and the next cycle of orders probably won’t occur until next year.  If anyone has an idea for changing up the shirts in the future, please discuss it with Tom Ferguson.

Mike Thomas and Larry Standiford may be organizing a Fall drive before the weather turns so stay tuned. With the driving season starting to wind down, your officers are looking for ideas for driving/show events to keep the Club active during the colder months.  Some suggestions discussed so far include:

Other suggestions are very welcome.  Contact one of the officers with your ideas as FRMC is always looking for more volunteers and input.
Open Lapping Day at High Plains Raceway near Byers – It’s official…we are going to hold a half day (1pm – 5pm) session for $149 per driver at High Plains on Thursdays, October 10th.  The weather will be cooler, but not cold and it’s usually dry that time of year.  I know from experience that a half day is plenty of track time on the fabulous HPR road course and I guarantee you will have a great experience.  No prior experience is needed and the track personnel lead new comers around the track so you can gain familiarity before starting open laps.  The gates open no later than 11:30 and I strongly suggest arriving around that time as we will need to do some preliminary vehicle inspections of things like brake fluid levels, tires, removal of loose items from interiors and trunks, helmet distribution (if you don’t have one to bring) and most importantly attending the mandatory driver/rider meeting at 12:30.  If you miss that, you don’t get on the track.  Also, be sure to fill up your gas tanks at the Love’s Travel Station in Bennett on your way to the track.  You will use a fair amount of gas open lapping.  You need to preregister with High Plains to participate at www.highplainsraceway.com where you will find more info on what should be a great experience.  If you plan on participating, please let Tom know so we have an idea how big our presence will be.  We aren’t renting the track exclusively for our club, so preregistering early is a good idea.
Annual Chili Feed – Dan Ryhal and Cathy Wagner have once again volunteered their beautiful home in Pine for the club’s fall Chili Feed.  We decided to follow our track day at High Plains on October 10th with the Chili Feed on Saturday, October 12th  starting at 11am.  We’ll also conduct our October Club Meeting at the Chili Feed.  Dan and Cathy are located at 15737 Pine Valley Road in Pine.  If you use GPS to find the address, don’t be fooled if it says you have arrived and you don’t see any cars yet.  My GPS is usually about a tenth of a mile premature with that announcement.  Just keep going and then you will soon see all our cars.  The colors should be really great by this point in October and the roads are paved all the way. This is a pitch-in event so bring your favorite chili in a crockpot or side dishes such as chips, sour cream, drinks and dessert.   The Chili Feed has always been a great way to close out the Club’s fall activities.  I’ll be asking for rsvp’s early in October so we can judge our food needs and let Dan and Cathy know what’s coming.
Last month, Dick Thompson shared info on how the Club can be one of the Featured Car Clubs at Gateway Classic Cars Monthly Caffeine and Chrome Car Show in 2025 and get up to a $200 donation for having up to 20 cars displayed.  This sounds like a great opportunity and we should discuss picking a month at our October meeting as we forgot to do it in September.
The next FRMC meeting will be Saturday, October 12th in conjunction with the Chili Feed described above.  Starting in November on the 9th, FRMC will switch to our Winter schedule of holding monthly meetings on Saturdays at 11am at Romano’s Italian Restaurant in Littleton at 5666 S. Windermere Street.

MCA Report

The Standiford’s and Spencer’s attended the August 9-11 MCA Mustangs at the Crossroads National Show in Des Moines, Iowa and reported that it was a good event and their Mustangs both took home Gold Badge Awards.  Congratulations for representing FRMC so well!  The last national show is October 11-13 in Savannah, Georgia and next year’s schedule is in development.  President Larry encouraged all FRMC MCA members to cast their votes for the MCA Board of Directors slate for next year as soon as possible.
