Old Business

The Club has 43 paid family memberships so far in 2025.  We finished 2024 at 44 family memberships.
As we await the return of driving season, your officers are looking for ideas for driving/show events to keep the Club active.  Some suggestions discussed so far include:
  • A road trip to Colorado Springs to view the National Museum of World War II Aviation
  • Visit the Colorado Model Railroad Museum in Greeley
  • Tour the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden
  • Visit the Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum in Denver
  • Tour Cars Remember When in Englewood with their always changing inventory
  • Cruise the Lariat Loop in Jefferson County
At the Club Holiday Party, Larry Standiford prepared several signup sheets to ascertain member interest in daily or destination club cruises in the Rocky Mountain area and Tom Ferguson added a list of By-ways Field Trips  published by the Denver Post at January’s meeting.  Wendell and Larry will ultimately determine the most popular destinations for cruise planning purposes in 2025.
Mike Thomas is also working to resume his efforts arranging driving outings in the new year.  Mike is currently attempting to confirm if the Memorial Day weekend Driving Run to Cody, Wyoming is still viable.  If not, he may try to arrange a Cody Run for later in the summer when the weather is more conducive to high altitude driving around Yellowstone.
Other suggestions are always welcome.  Remember, FRMC is always looking for more volunteers and input so contact one of the officers with your ideas.
In November Keith Johnson requested that the next FRMC shirt program consist of t-shirts as opposed to the polo shirts we’ve been ordering over the last several years.  Tom Ferguson has met with our shirt vendor and finalized the design and pricing and will be sending out details on the ordering process to the membership later in April.  We need to get a minimum order of 25 short or long sleeve tees to lock in pricing.
Danny Gaddy, who is serving on the organization committee for the June 8th 42nd Annual Colorado Concours d’Elegance at Araphoe Community College, noted that the Mustang is the featured marque for this year’s show and that so far registrations of ponies for the event have been less than steller.  As one of the two longest lived brands in American automobile history (along with the Corvette), the Concours Committee wants to recognize the Mustang on its 61st year of existence by having a special exhibition area on the lawn of the college where examples of every era of Mustang can be viewed.  To do this, owners are asked to enter their cars in the show for a $50 fee which comes with two admission tickets for family/friends not arriving in a Mustang for the exhibit, and a show program and poster.  The show runs from 9am to 3pm and features food trucks, music, auto-related exhibits, and hundreds of classic and current sports cars on exhibit including European exotics and American muscle.  Please consider joining members from other local Mustang clubs in entering your pony for the show.  Entries are accepted up to the show date, but do it early so we can be sure to have a turnout that makes Mustangers proud.  Registration is at www.abilityconnectioncolorado.org/special-events.colorado-concours/.
FRMC’s monthly event for March was the Club’s participation in the Forney Transportation Museum’s monthly Dust ‘n Shine day on Saturday, March 15th along with members from the Early Mustang Club of Colorado.  Turnout was good and the cars weren’t all that dusty so folks were able to get a lunch in at the conclusion.

New Business

The Club welcomed new members Rob and Christine Costa and Joe Scarfarotti in April.  Rob and Christine have owned numerous Mustangs over the years and currently are bringing a 1965 K-Code Coupe back to peak condition after it sat for 20 some years in the previous owner’s garage.  Joe purchased his 1967 428 Cobra Jet Fastback when he was a senior in high school and has owned it since 1987.  We’re looking forward to seeing both these beautiful machines soon.
Since the Early Mustang Club of Colorado’s Annual Mustang Anniversary Cruise in April will be an event restricted to their members due to its explosive growth in recent years making their cruise a logistical challenge, FRMC will be conducting its own Anniversary Cruise to Rosie’s Diner in Monument on Saturday, April 19th.  Tom Ferguson sent an email with details for the cruise out on April 11th and needs feedback on who will participate so he can communicate to Rosie’s staff what to expect.  As anyone who has participated in the runs to Rosie’s before can attest, the drive is beautiful along CO 105 and the fare at Rosie’s is excellent.
Finally, two car shows have been added to the Events of Interest list below…the July 12th All American Car Show in Loveland and the August 17th Tri-Lakes Cruisers Show in Monument.
The next FRMC meeting will be Friday, May 9th at 7pm at Romano’s Italian Restaurant in Littleton at 5666 S. Windermere Street.  We are meeting on a Friday evening because Romano’s has already promised their meeting room for a Medicare seminar on our usual Thursday night.
