Old Business

The Club has 44 paid family memberships so far in 2025.  We finished 2024 at 44 family memberships.
With the return of the driving season, your officers are looking for ideas for driving/show events to keep the Club active.  Some suggestions discussed so far include:
  • A road trip to Colorado Springs to view the National Museum of World War II Aviation
  • Visit the Colorado Model Railroad Museum in Greeley
  • Tour the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden
  • Visit the Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum in Denver
  • Tour Cars Remember When in Englewood with their always changing inventory
  • Cruise the Lariat Loop in Jefferson County
At the Club Holiday Party, Larry Standiford prepared several signup sheets to ascertain member interest in daily or destination club cruises in the Rocky Mountain area and Tom Ferguson added a list of By-ways Field Trips published by the Denver Post at January’s meeting.  Wendell and Larry will ultimately determine the most popular destinations for cruise planning purposes in 2025.  Mike Thomas is also reviewing dates to arrange another Driving Run to Cody, Wyoming (possibly in early September) when the weather should be more opportune and the park is less busy.  Other suggestions are always welcome.  Remember, FRMC is always looking for more volunteers and input so contact one of the officers with your ideas.
In November Keith Johnson requested that the next FRMC shirt program consist of t-shirts as opposed to the polo shirts we’ve been ordering over the last several years.  Tom Ferguson has met with our shirt vendor and finalized the design and pricing and will be sending out details on the ordering process to the membership in May.  We need to get a minimum order of 25 short or long sleeve tees to lock in pricing.
Danny Gaddy, who is serving on the organization committee for the June 8th 42nd Annual Colorado Concours d’Elegance at Araphoe Community College, noted that the Mustang is the featured marque for this year’s show and that so far registrations are coming in slow, but steady.  As one of the two longest lived brands in American automobile history (along with the Corvette), the Concours Committee wants to recognize the Mustang on its 61st year of existence by having a special exhibition area on the lawn of the college where examples of every era of Mustang can be viewed.  To do this, owners are asked to enter their cars in the show for a $50 fee which comes with two admission tickets for family/friends not arriving in a Mustang for the exhibit, and a show program and poster.  We are mostly in need of Mustangs of the 1967-73 vintage and the 1979-93 Fox years, but all Mustangs are welcome.   The show runs from 9am to 3pm and features food trucks, music, auto-related exhibits, and hundreds of classic and current sports cars on exhibit including European exotics and American muscle.  Please encourage members from other local Mustang clubs to join us in entering ponies for the show.  Entries are accepted up to the show date, but do it early so we can be sure to have a turnout that makes Mustangers proud.  Registration is at
www.abilityconnectioncolorado.org/special-events/colorado-concours/

April's Club Event was the Cruise to Rosie's Diner in Monument for the Mustang's 61st Anniversary. Despite some potential weather challenges, we had a successful event with 18 club members bringing their Mustangs or all weather cars down for a great time. We even ran into another Mustang Club from Colorado Springs who arrived for a late lunch as we were leaving.  As always, the staff at Rosie’s were very accommodating and they reminded us on the way out that they are having a car show on July 27th.  Tom has included a flyer and entry form for their show with the email that includes these minutes.

New Business

The Club welcomed a new member at the May Meeting, Dave Skinner.  Dave lives in Arvada and owns a 1974 Mustang II Mach 1 that he will be showing at the Concours in June.  Welcome, Dave!

May is chock-full of events for car enthusiasts including the just completed Warren Tech Car Show on May 10th (Ron Fox won a trophy with his car), the Rio Grande Mustang Club Mustang Enchantment regional MCA show in Albuquerque May 16-17, and the MCA Ponies in the Ozarks National Show in Gravois Mills, Missouri on May 23-26. All of these have registration info shown below in Events of Interest and are on the club calendar at www.frontrangemustangclub.org.
Also, one event that FRMC members like to attend each year is the May 18th Max Taps/Taste of Philly Car Show put on by the Highlands Ranch Hot Rodders Club. This show is for charity benefiting the veterans at post 1260 and is held at 2680 County Line Road in Highlands Ranch from 9am-1pm. There is a free sandwich and beer with each donation and registered car. From experience, it’s good to get to the show early to register and get a good parking spot.
Another great event held in June is the FOMOCO Owners & Fairlane Club of America All Ford & Mercury Car Show in Golden on the 22nd at Arapahoe Park, 14799 W 44th Ave, from 8am-2pm.  A flyer for this event is attached to the email that includes these minutes.
It should be noted that the Colorado Mustang Stampede which is held in Steamboat Springs each Father’s Day weekend and, unfortunately, competes with the Roundup in Cripple Creek has been cancelled for 2025.  No reason has been given, but the organizers hope to hold the event in 2026.  Feedback on the event’s Facebook Page has stressed both disappointment and the hope that it will not be held at the same time as the Roundup in the future.
Meanwhile, the Rocky Mountain Mustang Roundup is ready to kick-off the weekend of June 13th and 14th and the host hotel has increased the amount of rooms available to attendees as the initial reservation holds filled fast.   The event will center around Cripple Creek and include autocross (Friday at PPIR), a scenic mountain tour drive to Cripple Creek (Friday), a Friday Food Truck Social near the hotel, a breakfast buffet Saturday at the hotel (preregistration required) and the popular Saturday Show ‘n Shine in Cripple Creek.  More info is below in the Events of Interest.
Keith Johnson attended the May Collector Car Club of Colorado meeting where the club’s lobbyist noted that the Colorado State Legislature has approved an increase in future emissions testing fees for both new and classic cars and failed to act on the licensing initiative for street use of vintage military equipment (probably because the program would cost the state to setup).
Art Apple went to the Air Force Academy Car Show on May 4th and said it was a nice event that will hopefully continue next year as the Cadets are, not surprisingly, big car enthusiasts.  Art noted that Dick Thompson was also at the show which prompted Don Wuebker to note that he is having difficulty reaching Dick to discuss attending the May 23rd tour of the Tebo Collection in Longmont.  Art suggested texting Dick (303-929-5533) as that has been his most successful approach.  Tom Ferguson sent info about this tour out in an April 23rd email.
Finally, FRMC has been notified by the MCA that the Early Mustang Club of Colorado desires to become an MCA chartered club like FRMC.  Because of the close proximity of both clubs, MCA wanted to clear this with FRMC.  Our members were fine with it as our relationship with the Early Mustang Club is good and it is hoped this will facilitate both clubs working together on future events.
The next FRMC meeting will be Wednesday, June 11th at 7pm at Romano’s Italian Restaurant in Littleton at 5666 S. Windermere Street.  We are meeting on a Wednesday evening because Romano’s has already promised their meeting room for another use on our usual Thursday night.

MCA Report

Former President Larry Standiford reiterated that sister MCA club, the Rio Grande Mustang Club will have a new venue and date for its Regional Show this May 16-17th.  Details are included in the event link below in Upcoming Events.   So far, members planning on going to the Rio Grande show include Larry and Karen Standiford, Larry Snodgrass, and Jim and Nancy Yank.  Tom Ferguson called the members attention to the latest issue of the MCA’s monthly magazine, Mustang Times, which included on the last page a Blast From The Past collection of photos from the July 17-19, 2015 Mustangs With Altitude MCA Regional Show that was hosted by FRMC in Loveland.  Tom has posted the page on the FRMC Mustangs Facebook page for those who don’t have access to the magazine.
