Old Business

The Club has 41 paid family memberships so far in 2025.  We finished 2024 at 44 family memberships.
Wendell Salas reported that registration is now open for the June 13-14, 2025 Rocky Mountain Mustang Roundup and organizers have seen over 100 registrants so far together with some new sponsors added.  The host hotel has increased the amount of rooms available to attendees as the initial reservation holds filled fast.   The event will center around Cripple Creek and include autocross (Friday at PPIR), a scenic mountain tour drive to Cripple Creek (Friday), a Friday Food Truck Social near the hotel, breakfast buffets Saturday and Sunday at the hotel (preregistration required) and the popular show ‘n shine in Cripple Creek.
The 46th Annual Tri-State Auto Exhibition was held at the National Western Complex in Denver on the same weekend as FRMC’s Monthly Meeting and our members Ron and Ann Fox garnered second place in the 2000 to Present category with their 2019 Magnetic Metal GT Coupe.  Congratulations guys!
As we await the return of driving season, your officers are looking for ideas for driving/show events to keep the Club active.  Some suggestions discussed so far include:
  • A road trip to Colorado Springs to view the National Museum of World War II Aviation
  • Visit the Colorado Model Railroad Museum in Greeley
  • Tour the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden
  • Visit the Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum in Denver
  • Tour Cars Remember When in Englewood with their always changing inventory
At the Club Holiday Party, Larry Standiford prepared several signup sheets to ascertain member interest in daily or destination club cruises in the Rocky Mountain area and Tom Ferguson added a list of By-ways Field Trips  published by the Denver Post at January’s meeting.  Wendell and Larry will ultimately determine the most popular destinations for cruise planning purposes in 2025.
Mike Thomas is also working to resume his efforts arranging driving outings in the new year.  Mike is currently attempting to confirm if the Memorial Day weekend Driving Run to Cody, Wyoming is still viable.  If not, he may try to arrange a Cody Run for later in the summer when the weather is more conducive to high altitude driving around Yellowstone.
Other suggestions are always welcome.  Remember, FRMC is always looking for more volunteers and input so contact one of the officers with your ideas.
In November Keith Johnson requested that the next FRMC shirt program consist of t-shirts as opposed to the polo shirts we’ve been ordering over the last several years.  Tom Ferguson met with our shirt vendor recently and brought some sample long and short sleeve t-shirts to the March meeting.  The design featuring our logo as a screen printed transfer on the back and Front Range Mustang Club in script on the front along with a running pony image as designed by member Ken Weathers has been submitted to the vendor and we await final pricing estimates for the different sizes and colors as we anticipate an order of 25 shirts or so rather than the 50+ that the initial pricing was based on.  Once the info is available, Tom will send out a detailed email on ordering the t-shirts.

New Business

The Club welcomed new members Stephen Wilson and Kathy Dee who live between Monument and Colorado Springs at Saturday’s meeting.  Steve and Kathy came to us from the SAAC Colorado club where they have been long time members along with several FRMC members and they own numerous vehicles including a blue ’66 GT350H, a blue ’85 Mustang GT, and a yellow ’20 Mach 1.
FRMC’s monthly event for March is the Club’s participation in the Forney Transportation Museum’s monthly Dust ‘n Shine day on Saturday, March 15th.  We will meet at Forney’s at 9:30am and finish in the early afternoon with 12 from FRMC scheduled to participate along with 17 Early Mustang Club of Colorado members.   FRMC’s participation in this event was facilitated through the Collector Car Council of Colorado (CCCC) of which we are a member club.
Mary Sue Powell confirmed that the Early Mustang Club of Colorado’s Annual Mustang Anniversary Cruise in April will be an event restricted to their members due to its explosive growth in recent years making their cruise a logistical challenge.  Therefore, FRMC will arrange a cruise of our own either to or from Rosie’s Diner in Monument or the Lariat Loop National Scenic Byway connecting Morrison, Evergreen and Golden.  Stay tuned for details and dates.
Keith Johnson reported on the March Collector Car Council of Colorado meeting and noted that the Council has access to once in a lifetime tickets to the annual SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show in Las Vegas November 4-7.  If anyone would like to take advantage of this offer, contact Keith at 309-809-1659 or ltsrock38@mesanetworks.net.  Keith also reminded everyone that The Latest Scoop, which is newsletter reporting upcoming regional auto events, will be converted to digital subscriptions starting with the May/June issue.  It remains to be seen if this makes it easier to find events of interest or makes it harder since we can no longer peruse the physical copy in our hands.
Lastly, John McNurney recognized Tom Ferguson for the work he does to keep FRMC an active and growing enthusiast club.  John noted that a Perry’s Steakhouse gift certificate will be emailed to Tom and Jackie in recognition for his efforts.

The next FRMC meeting will be Thursday, April 10th at 7pm at Romano’s Italian Restaurant in Littleton at 5666 S. Windermere Street.  This will be the first member meeting on the Spring/Summer schedule to allow members to have free weekends for show and cruise events.
